    Being on the front lines, whether in combat or in global pandemics, takes a toll. It also takes a toll on family members and loved ones. The unknown outcomes of what the service may produce create a level of stress and anxiety that is unlike any other. What does Tele Vet / First Responder Therapy mean? This is what MySpectrum refers to as Therapy for those who serve, or who have served, in our military, as well as anyone in a role that is deemed to be a First Responder. This includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Reserves, Police Officers, Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Therapists, or anyone in a position that places them on the front lines.

Given our recent pandemic, we consider First Responders to also be those in jobs that have placed them in essential positions by default, to include those working at grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, or any place of business that has been necessary to continue our way of living. The Therapy offered comes to you via Teletherapy, also known as Online Therapy / Online Counseling.

How does this work? Our Teletherapy is delivered via a secure online platform. MySpectrum has developed unique online counseling for veterans and first responders that is unlike anywhere else. Our platform is double-encrypted and password protected so that all of your information is safe and secure. You simply log in at your scheduled appointment time, just like you would log in to check your email. You are then joined by your first responder counselor for your session. MySpectrum bills your insurance just like a doctor’s office would, so there is no membership fee or other fee that you have to pay, aside from your regular co-payment or deductible. We accept most insurance plans (if you have a question about whether or not we accept your insurance, please call us). We also accept private payments, if you prefer to not use your insurance.

Why should I choose Tele Vet / First Responder Therapy? This Teletherapy at MySpectrum allows you the flexibility to schedule Therapy in a way that might be outside of traditional hours, since we recognize that you likely work varying hours as well. You don’t have to travel to an office, so you can be anywhere in the state of Virginia and speak with qualified emergency responder trauma counselors through MySpectrum. You could be at your home, on base, or even on a break while on the job. As long as you find a private space on your end to engage in the session, we will provide you with the privacy on our end to have a safe place to express yourself.

Nah, I don’t need Therapy… or, do I? This is a question that many people often ask themselves, especially those who are in the habit of serving and helping others. It is normal to think that you can handle it all on your own, or to even be ashamed to ask for help because you are supposed to be “strong” and “tough”. Depending on the nature of your profession, you might be concerned that your employer would find out that you received Therapy; or, perhaps your colleagues would find out. We have no reason to share that with anyone, unless you sign a consent for us to do so, or if we are subpoenaed by a court of law. With Teletherapy, you can schedule your veterans counseling services in a way that is discreet, so that you feel comfortable taking this step.
